Work Experience

Poetry Educator — The Future Perfect Project

June 2024 — Present

Involves the creation and facilitation of a poetry workshop for trans youth focused on reading and writing the sonnet; exploring what defines the form beyond duration and rhythm. Duties include the creation of a syllabus with readings, critical resources, and assignments, providing thoughtful written critique of the students’ poetry, as well as moderating productive, sensitive group discussions on craft and content. The reading list highlights conventional exemplars and contemporary reinventions, including Terrance Hayes, Wanda Coleman, Diane Seuss, John Donne, and Rainer Maria Rilke. The workshop aims to provide students with the means to actively engage with the material of a poem and promote clarity in revisions of their own writing.

Editorial Assistant — Joel Sternfeld Studio, New York, NY

December 2023 — Present

Hired by the artist to offer “the poet’s perspective” on short-term projects. This involves copy editing and research, as well as making syntactical and stylistic edits to autobiographical critical essays for publication by Steidl.

Artist Assistant — The Gallery at Heimbold Visual Arts Center, Bronxville, NY

November 2023 — February 2024

Assisted Sarah Lawrence College’s inaugural artist-in-residence Gabriela Salazar in creating large-scale low-relief paper sculptures for a gallery exhibition. The works required delicate and meticulous construction, a process resembling printmaking or photography. The position involved working on-site with the artist and in the gallery independently tending to assigned projects, as well as conducting studio tours and leading discussions for visual art classes at the college.

Editorial Assistant — Poetry Editor at University of Pittsburgh Press, Bronxville, NY

October 2023 — December 2023

Assisted in reading and assessing poetry manuscripts from the finalists for the Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize.  Assistants would convene in small group conferences with the editor and discuss craft, voice, relevance to the contemporary moment, and locations of both strengths and weaknesses in the manuscripts.

Manuscript Assistant — Poetry Professor at Sarah Lawrence College, Bronxville, NY

December 2022 — February 2023

Compiled and organized a manuscript of poems by Marie Howe  for an anthology of new and selected work for publication by W.W. Norton. Included copyediting, proofreading, and grammatical corrections as well as stylistic and curatorial commentary.
